Fuel price data — frequently asked questions
Where can I get European fuel price data?
Several European governments publish station-level fuel prices as open data: France (DGCCRF, updated about every 10 minutes), Spain (Ministry for the Ecological Transition, about every 30 minutes) and Italy (MIMIT, daily). The Official Fuel Prices API on Apify combines these feeds, plus Western Australia’s FuelWatch, into one normalized JSON format.
Is there an API for fuel prices in France?
Yes. France publishes an official instant feed of fuel prices (prix des carburants) for about 9,800 stations under the Licence Ouverte. You can call it directly, or use the Official Fuel Prices API to query it by radius, postal code or fuel type with normalized output.
How can I get petrol prices in Spain programmatically?
Spain’s Ministry publishes a REST service with prices for about 11,500 stations, refreshed about every 30 minutes. The Official Fuel Prices API wraps it with radius search, brand filters and normalized fuel types such as gasoline_95 and diesel.
What API provides diesel prices in Italy?
Italy’s Ministry of Enterprises (MIMIT) publishes daily open data with prices in force at 08:00 the previous day for about 23,900 stations. The Official Fuel Prices API returns these as JSON, with self-service and attended prices as separate rows.
How can I find the cheapest fuel stations near coordinates?
Call the Official Fuel Prices API with latitude, longitude, radiusKm and fuelTypes. Results are sorted cheapest first and each row includes distanceKm. The country is detected from the coordinates.
How can an AI agent retrieve fuel prices?
Add the Actor as a tool through the Apify MCP server (https://mcp.apify.com?tools=sste/official-fuel-prices). MCP clients such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code can then call it with coordinates and a fuel type.
How much does it cost?
$0.005 per run plus $0.0005 per price row. A query for the 10 cheapest stations near a point costs about $0.01. There is no subscription.
Do I need an API key?
No key is needed for the government sources. To run the Actor you need an Apify account; API calls use your Apify API token.
How fresh is the data?
Each run downloads the latest official feed. France updates about every 10 minutes, Spain about every 30 minutes, Italy once a day (08:00 prices of the previous day) and Western Australia once a day (prices fixed from 06:00 AWST). Every row has priceUpdatedAt.
Which countries are not covered?
Austria, Germany, Portugal, the UK, the US and Canada are not covered by this API at the moment.
